Saturday Jul 24 2010 comments Janniro on top of National Speedway Championship By: Michael Kirby/Auburn Journal -A +A Charlie Venegas had a great night, perfect in the heat race portion of Friday night?s AMA/USA National Speedway Championship and finished second to Billy Janniro, in the A Final scoring 19 championship series points. Scott Brant finished third with 16 championship series points. Billy Janniro explains to Fast Friday's track announcer Mike Rooney how he won the A Final. Auburn's Bart Bast was steady as ever, scoring 14 championship series points in Friday's opening round of the National Championship. Riding on top of his game, Venegas figures to be a threat and is sitting in good position with 19 championship points going into the final round October 1. Auburn?s Bart Bast gets inside of Billy Janniro. Bast was one of only three riders to finish ahead Janniro in heat races. Auburn's Tommy Hedden won the B Final and finished with 12 championship points. Jimmy Fishback comes out of turn two in an early heat race. Fishback scored eight championship series points winning the C Final. Billy Janniro struggled in the heat races of Friday night?s first round national championship but rebounded in the A Final with a win, scoring 20 championship points, going into the final round October 1.
