Fun through the Eyes of Maggie Rose McGurk column

Kiwanis Club has great fundraiser

-A +A

The worst news an event chairperson can receive is hearing three days before the event that the event must change venues because of a double booking.

Our Kiwanis Club moved its 10th annual “Meet me in Margaritaville” benefit to the Civic Auditorium on 5th and E streets.  Many thanks to the Lincoln Theater Group for helping convert the "auditorium" into a "banquet hall" on last-minute notice.

Event chairwoman Sarah Lambrose happily reports that the event was very successful, including the live and silent auctions, with the unofficial total about $8,500.

We thank our guests for their good-natured response as they "squeezed" around their tables and their generosity in supporting our main cause, helping the children in the greater Lincoln community.

Many thanks also to the volunteers from Lincoln High School's Interact-Key Club and Pep Squads for their help throughout the entire evening.

It was a fun event with great food, fun people and great art contributors, such as 94- year-old artist Tommie Moller!
