Cycling through Placer County

One of the favorite routes for cyclists from the Lincoln area is to Camp Far West Lake via McCourtney Road but I have met riders from all over the area there.

McCourtney Road has some small hills, easy rollers and beautiful vistas.   From McBean Park to the lake and back by the same route is about 25 miles with just 1,000 feet of climbing.

McCourtney has its drawbacks. Much of the road surface needs repaving and there is no shoulder for most of the route but drivers are used to seeing cyclists on the road and are generally courteous.

And unless you are willing to ride around the lake to the boat ramp, there is no place to get a donut.

But it is a great ride with a little challenge for the average rider.  There are a number of side roads to modify a ride. Take your camera.
