Sweet, Turner named to All Metro football team

The honors for Lincoln High football continued for James Sweet and Tommy Turner, both making the Sacramento Bee All-Metro team.

Sweet was selected to the Offense First Team. The senior wide receiver gained 1,280 yards on 82 receptions and scored 16 touchdowns.

Sweet also had 39 rushes for 371 yards and played in all 11 of the Fighting Zebras’ games. He also had two TDs rushing and two on kickoff returns.

Lincoln’s No. 3 was the Pioneer Valley League’s top receivers and ranked fifth in touchdowns scored.

Throwing to Sweet was Zebras’ quarterback Tommy Turner, who was given honorable mention. The junior was No. 2 in the PVL for total passing yards and threw for 28 TDs.

Western Sierra

Wolves’ quarterback Aiden Lucia was given honorable mention for all-purpose performance.

The junior passed for 2,709 yards and finished the season with a 106.6 quarterback rating. Lucia threw 28 touchdowns and scored six rushing; he gained 354 total yards on the ground.

Lucia was named the Offensive Player of the Year by the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League.
