Life in the Bike Lane column
We usually start in Lincoln, but every so often, we load up the bikes and travel out of town for a special ride.
Such was the case Nov. 1, when 10 riders started in downtown Colfax and rode to the PG&E Drum Powerhouse on the Bear River.
The route roughly parallels I-80, rolls through historic Dutch Flat and returns via Rollins Lake.
On a map, look for Norton Grade, Magra, Lincoln and Drum Powerhouse roads. It is a ride through some gorgeous country, but at 40 miles with 4,000 feet of climbing, not a ride for beginners.
Tom Frady is a Lincoln resident and avid cyclist and driver. On alternate weeks, this column features photographs from Placer County (and maybe some neighbors) taken while riding my bike. My hope is that the reader will be inspired to get on a bike and ride. This is a beautiful area and a wonderful place to bicycle.
