The same man is suspected in two attempted abductions in the last few days – one Tuesday in Roseville and one Sunday in Lincoln.
In the Roseville incident, a 29–year-old woman reported that she was sitting in her car at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the retail parking lot at 8690 Sierra College Blvd. when the man entered her car through the rear door and grabbed her around the neck in an attempt to subdue her.
The woman told police she began honking her horn as she opened her driver’s door and escaped. The suspect took her purse before fleeing in his vehicle, a maroon Dodge Durango.
The man was described as a Caucasian male in his early 30s with a mustache and goatee and short blonde hair in “buzz cut.” He was 5-foot-11 to 6 foot tall and approximately 220 lbs., wearing a white T-shirt. The maroon Dodge Durango had its rear windows tinted.
The Lincoln Police Department reported that a man of similar description was responsible for an attempted kidnapping at the Raley’s gas station in Lincoln on Sunday.
In that incident, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 19-year-old female employee of the gas station told the police she was standing in the car wash area when a white male adult driving a maroon Dodge Durango attempted to force her into his vehicle. The victim was able to escape uninjured and the suspect was gone upon the arrival of Lincoln Police officers.
The victim described the suspect as a white adult male, 25-30 years old, 5-foot-8 tall, approximately 180 pounds, front teeth missing and was wearing dark baggy clothing. Lincoln Police said they are reviewing video from a surveillance camera, but that the image quality is poor.
Roseville Police Lt. Stefan Moore said both women did the right thing in resisting the unknown suspect.
“I think it’s clear that the intentions of the suspect were extremely bad and their captivity was at stake here, so both did a very good job of fighting him off,” he said.
Moore said the suspect in the Roseville attempt was sitting in his car next to the woman for approximately 10 minutes before attempting the kidnapping.
“Her intuition was something not right and she a little bit of a plan,” he said. “She started screaming and honking the horn. Any time somebody does something like that or someone threatens you to be quiet, that is a key sign to do the opposite.”
Detectives from both agencies are currently investigating the crimes and urge anyone who may have seen the above-described suspect or vehicle, or who has any other information about this incident is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department at 645-4040.
