Artist's rendition of the renovated theatre
|
The fourth Project Auburn is planning to redo the fasade of the State Theatre, starting the process of restoring it to its original 1930s style and beauty. Partnering for this year's project are the city of Auburn (Bob Richardson, City Manager), the Auburn Rotary Club (Nick Willick, retired police chief of Auburn), the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center APPAC (Paul Ogden, President), the Placer County Contractors Association (Bob Bouzard, executive director), Auburn business groups and service clubs, and of course, the citizens of Auburn who will volunteer their time and efforts on May 31.
Scope — The restoration of the fasade of the theatre will include repair and painting of the stucco exterior, adding tile trim to the front, upgrading and replacing windows, all in a 1930s style, and renovating the concrete entry walkway. APPAC is coordinating the installation of a theatre marquee, planned for installation in June 2008. Also planned are upgrades to the nearby streetscape from Oak Street to the central square. Volunteers will repair and paint parking zones and benches including the Joe Elder Station (bus stop) and construct enhancements along Lincoln Way.
How you can help — We need volunteer workers, donations whether cash or materials, expertise in the areas above, and team captains. Spread the word, gather together family, friends and neighbors. Come help make Auburn even more beautiful.
