Cut top salaries before voting for Measure K

Well folks, there have been layoffs and pay negotiations with the city employees and a fire station has been closed and some firemen laid off.

The police force has been decreased and there is the threat of further layoffs.

But I don’t see anything coming off the top!

It is a general consensus of the populace that the city manager is overpaid and that he should not need an assistant.

Seems like every time a decision has to be made, a consultant is hired to advise the council. Smart move, if things don’t work out, blame it on the consultant.

Why not hire a consultant to see if some salaries should be cut at the top end of the city. As an emergency measure, the city manager’s salary could be reduced, the assistant city manager could be eliminated, the council members stipends could be cut in half.

The planning commissioners stipends could be cut in half.

The lifetime medical insurance should be eliminated.

Lets see some sacrifices for the good of the city on the top end for a change.

Until I see some changes in the upper level payroll, my vote will be no on Measure K.
