Southwest Tour, Legends coming to All American Speedway
The All American Speedway will be packed with three big races on March 27, when the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series and the Legends of the Pacific will be joining the K&N Pro Series on the 1/3-mile oval in Roseville.
The NASCAR Whelen All American Series kicks off its home track season on April 3 at the Speedway, one of the top ranked short-track ovals in the nation.
The SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series begins its 10th year of racing this season beginning at All American Speedway in the Mo's Gold 125 presented by AmeriPride Uniform Services. The series is a regional stock car series that competes on paved ovals in the Southwest.
2009 SRL Southwest Tour champion M. K. Kanke had four wins in 2009 in the No. 33 Chevrolet.
"This series is growing like no other anywhere and we are working even harder to have another great year," Kanke said, "but it’s going to be tough. The competition level has been elevated and the new teams coming in will make this series the most competitive I have ever been part of.”
SRL 2008 champion Jim Pettit II is ready for the new racing season to start. Pettit, ending up in the fourth-place slot in 2009, is looking to turn things around in 2010.
He said the team put out a championship effort.
"Our plan is to be in the championship hunt this year. The series is going to be tough, and it will be quite an accomplishment for whoever is the 2010 champion," Pettit said.
This is the inaugural season for the SRL Legends Tour, which will be touring with the Southwest Series.
“So many of our teams have members of their families who race Legends cars and this seems like a good fit for those families to better enjoy the 2010 race season,” said SRL's Larry Collins. “It will also give Legends drivers the opportunity to chase a touring series championship and we hope to see an increase in Legend car count at our host racetracks.”
Dave Sciarroni is looking forward to racing on March 27 in his Legend car.
"I used to come to All American Speedway with my dad to watch races when I was little," Sciarroni said. "I've raced street stocks and late models, and I raced in the Legends race with the K&N Series last October. The weather is always nice and the track is fun. It's racy and there aren't a lot of these types of tracks left. The atmosphere is nice and the crowd is always happy. They are having a good time."
