Zebras sweep Mesa Verde in coed tennis
Lincoln High’s varsity coed tennis team hammered visiting Mesa Verde 9-0 on Tuesday in a Pioneer Valley League match. The Zebras are now 1-1 in the PVL as they dropped their league opener 7-2 at Placer on March 11. Placer is the defending league champion. Lincoln’s Jessica Ho (6-0, 6-2), Jerusha Loya (6-1, 6-4), Jeremy Orteza (6-2, 7-6) and PJ Elbakri (6-4, 6-3) each picked up wins in singles on Tuesday against Mesa Verde. Ho is the No. 1 player on the girls side while Orteza is at the top of the ladder for Lincoln’s boys. In doubles, Lincoln got victories from Courtney Balonek and Christiana Orlove (6-4, 7-5), Kaitlin Fischer and Elizabeth Magana (6-1, 6-1), Jon Diaz and Ivan Ruiz (6-1, 5-7, 12-10), Chris Ahrens and Ruben Reyes (6-0, 6-2) and Luis Lopez and Julie Hill (6-2, 6-3).
