What do you do for a living?

I am an aesthetician, massage professional and a barista at Starbucks, and I make wedding cakes. My husband and I do weddings for people. One of my cakes made it into a magazine and I made the flowers on it. As an aesthetician, I do a lot of waxing but what I really love doing are the facials and peels to help resurface their (clients’) skin.

What do you like about working for Skin Essentials?

What I like about working here is being able to pamper and help ladies that give so much to everybody else. I like being able to nurture them, help them relax and breathe and feel good about themselves.

I have clients with acne, and it’s been very rewarding to see this can make a difference for their skin. That’s kind of why I got into the profession.

What do you like about doing massage?

I like the way people feel when they leave and I like getting reports back from clients saying that things that have hurt them or caused them grief for years are gone.

Why did you decide to become a massage professional?

When I was in school (to become an aesthetician) we were doing back facials, which include a lot of massage. A lot of the girls wanted me to do their back facials. It seemed like a natural thing for me to do because it came very easy for me.

What do you like to do when you’re not working both jobs?

Spend time with my husband, grandkids and daughter. I also just taught myself how to knit.

What made you want to learn to knit?

I think I saw a book in a store about knitting socks, and though I’d like to learn how to make socks. They’re small and you can take them places with you.

What’s most important to you in life?

Most important to me is my relationship with the Lord. That is the most important, that I’m doing what He made me for. I think each one of us has a purpose, He has a plan and I’m following that plan and touching lives.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would it be?

There are so many places! If I could travel right now I think I would like to do what my husband wants and it’s to take a three-month backpacking trip in Europe. I would like to do it for him. I’ve been thinking about it, wouldn’t that be fun walking around Europe with my hubby, and seeing everything together.
