Lincoln High will send nine varsity wrestlers to compete in the Sac-Joaquin Section, Division IV championships Friday and Saturday at Foothill High. Wrestling starts at 9 a.m. The top wrestlers from this tournament will qualify for the Masters Tournament at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Feb. 21-22. These Zebras qualified for the DIV championships by placing in the top four among their weight class at the Pioneer Valley League tournament on Feb. 7 at Lincoln. Lincoln's Tony Ramirez (285 pounds) and Richard Manuel (145) earned league titles by placing first in their weight class. Lincoln's Blake Stark (135) and Steve Culverson (152) placed second at the PVL tourney while Jerry Williams (140), Jake Hahn (160) and Marcos Lopez 171 each took third. Teammates Alfonso Maldonado (119) and Daniel Stanley (189) both took fourth place. Lincoln's Colin Curry claimed his third junior varsity tournament title of the year. Thirteen other Zebras medaled at the JV level.
