Coming off a loss against Colfax earlier in the week, the Lincoln High girls soccer team rebounded two days later for a 2-1 win over visiting Bear River in Pioneer Valley League play March 3.

The two clubs fought to a 0-0 deadlock at the end of the first period. But early in the second, striker Alyssa Gallagher started the scoring by beating the defense down field and putting a shot into the top-left corner of the goal. The Bruins’ goalkeeper could only watch as Gallagher’s kick hit the mark.

Mid-fielder Hayley Fleming would also find the back of the net later in the period to seal Lincoln’s victory. Fleming got an assist from Celina Maldonado.

The Fighting Zebras out-shot the visitors 9-5 and Lincoln’s Abbie Faingold was up to the challenge. The junior has been credited with 49 saves so far this season while being scored upon just five times.

Gallagher and Maldonado have been the Zebras’ leading scorers with five apiece. Maldonado also leads in assists with four. Of Lincoln’s 22 goals so far this season, nine have come from different players.

Golden Sierra _ Keeping their momentum going, the Zebras earned a 2-0 non-conference win against Golden Sierra April 4.

Gallagher and Riley Sims provided the goals with assists from Andrea Torres and Carly Deweese. The Zebras defense was superb giving nothing to the Grizzly's defense.

Colfax _ The Falcons barely kept its record intact by coming away with a 1-0 triumph April 1.

Faingold and the Lincoln’s defense held their ground but the offense was only able to get off two shots on goal. Lauren Edwards and Jasmeen Bains were credited with the attempts.
