The Western Placer Unified School District board recognized this year’s Lincoln High School Zebra football team for its successful season. “As we all know, the football team had a fantastic year beyond measure,” said the school district’s Superintendent Scott Leaman during Tuesday’s school-board meeting. “The board wanted to recognize you for bringing the spirit to Lincoln that a winning football team can bring.” Leaman presented the team with a plaque recognizing their success. “I really appreciate you having me here and recognizing the football team,” said Coach Ken Lowe. “It’s been a great year and I’m really proud of the boys this year.” Lowe said the team deserved recognition “for all the hard work they did” and added that this year was “hopefully a stepping stone and hopefully we can put together another good year.” About 20 members of the football team attended, including team captain Brock Dobbs, 17, and quarterback Alex Stewart, 17. “To be recognized by anyone is really an honor,” Stewart said. “Everyone on the team worked hard and deserves it.”
