The Lincoln High boys basketball team edged out a 38-35 win over visiting Center Tuesday night. The red-hot Zebras extended their win streak to 12-straight and are 2-0 in Pioneer Valley League competition.

Going into the final period, the Zebras held a 14-point lead after limiting the Cougars to five points in the third quarter.

Led by 6-foot-9 center Isaiah Jones, the Cougars mounted a 17-3 run that culminated with an Austin Hampton field goal to tie the game at 35 all.

With 40 seconds left, the Lincoln coaching staff called for the ball to go inside. Alexis Gonzales found Logan Stayner underneath for a go-ahead field goal.

With the clock winding down, Jackson Sterling all but sealed the game when Center’s Lane Andrews failed to haul in a pass. Sterling immediately fought for possession and rolled hard to the floor giving the ball back to the Zebras.

Center sent junior Matt Shirley to the foul line where he cushioned Lincoln’s lead going 1-for-2 at the line.

Marcus Salgado led the Zebras with 10 points and five assists. Adam Felt scored eight points.
