The Lincoln varsity football team bounced back with a vengeance from its devastating 54-6 season-opener loss against Woodcreek. The Fighting Zebras took to the road and invaded Natomas. They defeated the Nighthawks 33-6. Lincoln’s rushing attack ran all over the Natomas defense. Senior running back Jon Santo led all rushers with 149 yards on only nine carries. His counterpart, senior running back Isaac Allen, ran the ball eight times for 98 yards, just barely missing the 100-yard mark. Carlos Castro also got into the action. The senior running back had 10 carries for 41 yards. The Fighting Zebras’ defense looked like a whole new squad. After giving up 54 points to Woodcreek, Lincoln stuffed the Natomas offense and only surrendered six points. Lincoln still has two more road games before finally returning home. They play at Yuba City on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. E-mail News Messenger Sports at
