Your 'Friends' at the library
By: Lora Finnegan Special to the News Messenger
If you’re wondering what holiday gift to give that favorite sister, helpful neighbor or grandchild, here’s an easy solution. A book! It’s a one-size-fits-all gift and when you buy it at the upcoming holiday-themed book sale -(1-4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Lincoln Public Library at Twelve Bridges), you’ll help the library as you help yourself. Sponsored by our nonprofit group, the Friends of the Lincoln Public Library, the book sale is a win-win for our community. You may find some nice gift books and all proceeds from the sales support library programming and the purchase of new materials for the library. We’ve selected the best, “like new” books to sell in categories including animals, cookbooks, hobbies, arts and crafts, sports and Christmas-themed books, as well as fiction and paperbacks. And you can buy a green book bag ($2) to put your purchases in, saving you the job of wrapping them later. If you’d like to drop off books to contribute to the sale (please do not drop off books when the library is closed), please leave them at the Lincoln Public Library at Twelve Bridges. While you’re there, check out our ongoing book sales area inside the public library at Twelve Bridges. Bring the kids to the library next Saturday, Nov. 27, to see a display on the Nutcracker, Dolls and Children’s Books. The display is sponsored by FOLL and will remain on show inside the library through January. This column is the first of a Friends of the Lincoln Library series. Have a question? E-mail the Friends at FOLL@live.com. Lora Finnegan is a Friends of the Lincoln Library member.
