Young Lincoln track team opens at Granite Bay

Zebras match up against PVL competition

The junior varsity and varsity Lincoln High School boys track and field team had its ups and downs at the Bob King-Don Gilbert Invitational in Granite Bay on March 10. The Fighting Zebras’ boys varsity squad tied for 19th out of 24 schools with a score of 10. The junior varsity team finished 10th out of 19 schools with a score of 18. Lincoln’s junior varsity team did pretty well in the long jump event. Sophomore Leo Calderon (18-10.75) finished second and Liam Hao (18-05.75) finished in third. Pleasant Grove sophomore Charles Black won the event (19-02.50). The Fighting Zebras’ next event is the CAL Invitational at Whitney High School in Rocklin on Saturday. Lincoln will be competing against 12 other schools at the event. There will be 24 schools from five different divisions from all over California competing in the meet as the Fighting Zebras work to improve as the season progresses.
