STOCKTON _ Lincoln?s Danny Allen won the Young Guns portion of the Legends Nationals qualifier at the Stockton 99 Speedway May 19 to earn a spot in the Young Lions Nationals to be held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Atlanta, Ga. Allen is 12 years old. A Grand National champion in quarter midget racing, Allen becomes one of the youngest drivers to make it to nationals driving his 125-horsepower Legend car. Allen?s car No. 24 is family-owned by Allen?s Cabinet and Fixture Co. in Lincoln. Allen finished second in the trophy dash at Stockton and then set his sights on the 40-lap main event that included drivers from divisions Pro and Masters. In the main event, Allen worked his way into the top five cars on lap 13 but needed to make the top three to win the Young Lions class. He broke into that position on lap 21 and stayed just behind the frontrunners the rest of the way to earn his trip to Atlanta. With the nationals scheduled for October, Allen will race in Northern California this summer. He is back in Stockton June 9 and will race at Roseville?s All American Speedway June 16. He will team up with Chase Pistone Racing in July and head for Charlotte, NC to prepare for nationals.
