Wolverines top San Mateo in OT

Sierra College quarterback Alex Rump threw three touchdowns as the Wolverines won 30-27 at the College of San Mateo in overtime Saturday. The Wolverines (5-0) entered the game ranked No. 1 in Northern California while San Mateo (4-1) was No. 2. Granite Bay graduate Scott Enos hit a 42-yard field goal in overtime to end the game. Rump threw touchdown passes to Justin Chastain (53 yards), Brandon Michalkiewicz (47) and Lamon Muldrow (18) in the victory while Sierra’s Paul Vassallo returned a fumble 17 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Sierra has a bye Saturday and it will play the first of five Valley Conference games Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. against visiting San Joaquin Delta College.
