Wolverines top Sac City 48-26 in football

Sierra’s Nelson throws three touchdowns

The Sierra College football team, ranked No. 2 in Northern California, won 48-26 at Sacramento City College on Friday. The Wolverines led 48-13 after three quarters. Sierra’s Setaleki Fuapau returned a fumble for a 70-yard touchdown in the first quarter and teammate Jermaine Fox scored on a 92-yard kickoff return later in the quarter. Sierra quarterback Jeff Nelson threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Justin Chastain for Sierra’s third score of the opening quarter. Nelson also threw touchdowns to Brandon Michalkiewitz (six yards) and Chastain (29) later in the game. CJ Woodbury (one-yard run) and Deonte Williams (five yards) both scored on the ground in the victory for the Wolverines. Sierra will play at City College of San Francisco, ranked No. 3 in Northern Cali-fornia, at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Wolverines will return to Rocklin on Sept. 26 when they host American River at 1 p.m.
