In the inaugural season for William Jessup University, there have been a lot of first time events and a 14-0 win over Bethany University there was another major accomplishment. Junior pitcher Kara Besseghini achieved the ultimate accomplishment a pitcher can have in a win. The Dixon native pitched a perfect game against the Bruins in Scotts Valley, CA. While the Warriors scored runs at will, Besseghini shut down all 15 batters she faced in the five inning game that was shortened by the mercy rule. She gave up no hits, no walks and finished with three strike outs. Besseghini has been a stable presence in the circle for the first year program. She is 14-5 on the season with an ERA of 2.49. With 14 wins, Besseghini ranks 26th in the nation at the NAIA DI level for wins and 12th in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings (.97). William Jessup closes out the season with two important doubleheader matchups on the road at Simpson University Saturday and at home against Holy Names University on April 24. The Warriors (8-4) are currently in third place in the conference behind those two teams. Simpson is 12-0 and Holy Names is 10-2.
