Name: Ashley Piwkiewicz Occupation: Student Age: 14 Family: Mom Debbie, dad Michael and sister Amber, 11 City of Residence: Lincoln How would you describe yourself? “I’m kind of shy, and mostly positive and caring. I’m also hardworking.” You received some special recognition from an accomplishment at Glen Edwards Middle School. Can you describe that? “I got the Principal’s Award for getting straight As all three years, and I got an award for getting straight As for eighth grade.” Did anyone else earn straight As for all three years? “No. It was just me. I worked really hard for it. I think it’s important for later. It’s for good study habits and will help me get into college.” Do you have a favorite subject? “Probably math. I was also the historian for the school when I was in eighth grade. I interviewed people and wrote articles about important things.” Is there a particular article that sticks out as being one of your favorites? “Probably the Harvest Festival because everyone got to buy raffle tickets, and there was lots going on. We did that during lunchtime.” What is it you enjoy most about school? “I like meeting friends and hanging out.” Do you play any sports? “I play soccer. I’ve probably played for eight or nine years. I rotate through all the positions, but I usually play midfield. I like midfield and forward the best. I’m going to try out for Lincoln High School’s team next year.” What is one of your hobbies? “I play the piano. I’ve been playing for four or five years. I don’t play any particular type. I just play whatever sounds good.” Do you have any fears about high school? “I’m kind of scared. I’ll be changing schools and everybody’s going to be older, and I’ll have all new teachers.” What are you looking forward to about high school? “More freedom and different electives.” Do you know what you want to be once you’ve graduated from college? “I want to be a doctor. I want to work with babies. It would just be cool to deliver babies and bring them into the world.”
