Name: Melody Quenzer Occupation: Optometrist and, for the last 18 months, owner of Eye-Q Optometry (745 S. Highway 65, Suite 70) Age: 42 Family: Fiancé, Bill Giddings; and future stepdaughter, Maddie, 11 City of residence: Lincoln How would you describe yourself? “I’m caring, friendly and approachable.” What do you like best about Lincoln? “I love the small-town feel, especially in the downtown area, with its cute shops and restaurants. It feels like a small town even though it’s gotten bigger. I feel safe here and it’s a close-knit community.” What are some of your goals? “My ultimate goal would be to establish myself in this community and be a solid provider of glasses and contacts. We have services for the whole community, not just people who are patients here. I also want to keep active in Kiwanis. I love community service and this group is fun. They work hard and they have fun. I like to be able to give back.” Any major plans in the near future? “I’m getting married Sunday, Sept. 6. We met when I first moved to Sacramento from Lake Tahoe and he brought his daughter in for an eye exam. That’s how we met.” Where do you plan to go on the honeymoon? “We’re going to go to Maui in January.” What are some of your hobbies? “I like to spend time with my family, work out, listen to music, draw and watch movies. Cycling is my big summer passion. I love to ride the American River Bike Trail. Lately, I’ve been exploring Joiner Parkway and down into Rocklin.” What would readers be surprised to know about you? “That I’m actually pretty shy. That’s surprising to some people, because even though I’m real talkative here at work, I’m usually very shy.” - If you would like to see a neighbor or friend featured here, please call Shoni Jones at 645-7733 or e-mail at
