The Sierra Foothill League boys basketball season opened Tuesday night with a ton of expectations.

With Nevada Union a bit of an unknown, at least five teams appear to be capable of doing damage in the race for the league title. We want to know who you think will win the Sierra Foothill League boys basketball title this season. Log on to , cast your vote and share your comments defending your choice.

Rocklin is the defending champion of Northern California as well as the league. The Thunder were unbeatable a year ago, but graduation has changed their look and their style of play. Gone are Brendan Lane and Pat Stover in the front court, leaving Rocklin as more of a perimeter-oriented team around guards Cody Kale, Tony Williams and Jackson Cummings. Can the Thunder repeat?

Del Oro returns a ton of talent from last year's group, with particular emphasis on all-league guard Spencer Butterfield. The Golden Eagles play in Division III once the postseason gets here, but is this their year in the Division II SFL?

Woodcreek is considered one of the favorites this season, led by a 6-foot-11 center Mike Kurtz and a large contingent of outstanding wing players. Nik Milani has been very impressive for the Timberwolves in the early going, and this year's team was unbeaten for a long while before three late December losses to talented teams from outside the area. Is this the season for Woodcreek to get over the hump and win a league title?

Oakmont may not be a household name among the elite teams in the SFL, but this year's Vikings are very talented. Alex Ford is a top notch shooter and Fred Mobley is an extremely talented point guard. The real strength of this squad lies in the two big guys who dominate the paint - 6-foot-8 Tony Gill and 6-6 J.T. Adenrele. Can Oakmont leap all the way to the top of the league standings?

Granite Bay is always in the mix, and this year's team will be no different. Once again, the Grizzlies are a guard-oriented team with Jake Riffice and Ryan Motsenbocker now joined by the talented Robert Duncan to strengthen that part of their game. The key for Granite Bay will be the ability of Jon Davis and Braden Young to hold their own in the paint against taller teams.
