In a 2-0 win over visiting Lincoln High, the Whitney girls soccer team heads into their Capital Athletic League opener against Antelope March 22 on a five-game win streak.

Whitney was able to get on the board in the 14th minute as Aliyah Utush found Jessica Randhawa with a light pass in front of the Fighting Zebras’ goalkeeper.

In a defensive lapse by Lincoln, Utush broke away from the nearest defender at midfield to give the Wildcats their second goal of the game.

With stingy defensive efforts on both sides, the final 55 minutes of the contest played out with a combined six shots on goal from both teams.

Lincoln stiffened on defense, keeping Utush and company from taking additional shots.

In the final 20 minutes, Lincoln kept its offensive on Whitney’s side but only managed a single shot attempt.

Lincoln will play their next game on the road at Forest Lake Christian March 25 before opening Pioneer Valley League competition against Colfax April 1.
