Warriors men defeat Menlo College 70-52

MENS BASKETBALL The William Jessup University men’s basketball team found a way to get their first road win of the season by defeating Menlo College 70-52 last Thursday in Atherton. The Oaks took an early 17-4 lead, but the Warriors would storm back to take a 31-28 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Warriors turned up the defensive pressure and executed on offense to roll to the win. Junior Jordan Wilson (Rocklin) led three Warrior players in double figures with 19 points. Seniors Marqus Crawford and Anthony Anderson (Roseville) had 18 and 13 points, respectively. The Warriors improved to 5-3 in conference and 10-13 overall. William Jessup will return to action tonight as they host CSU-Maritime in Rocklin. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30. They travel to Simpson University for a game on Saturday. WOMENS BASKETBALL William Jessup’s women’s basketball team traveled to UC Santa Cruz last Saturday. The Lady Warriors took a 36-29 lead into halftime; however UC Santa Cruz took advantage of turnovers to beat the Lady Warriors 71-52. Cassie Davidson and Taylor Borba led the Warriors with 11 points apiece. William Jessup came up short in a 66-59 loss at Menlo College last Thursday night in Atherton. Davidson led the Lady Warriors with 30 points and seven rebounds. Senior Maria Viola added 13 points and eight rebounds. The Lady Warriors fall to 1-20 and 1-6 in conference. William Jessup will return to action tonight as they host CSU-Maritime in Rocklin. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30. They travel to Simpson University on Saturday.
