Warriors’ womens soccer stuns Menlo College

The 2011 William Jessup University women’s soccer team has a flare for the dramatic this season. The Lady Warriors defeated Menlo College 2-1 in an overtime thriller, last week. Sophomore Alyssa Wimmer tied the game up at 1-1 in the 50th minute with a goal on an assist from Emily Fernandez. The Warriors struck quickly in overtime as senior Lindsey Cesena kicked in the winning goal in the 91st minute. Also last week, the Lady Warriors dropped a 3-2 overtime game to NCAA Division II Academy of Arts University. Senior Stephanie Long tied the game in the 9th minute with her first goal of the season. Freshman Cara Eskenazi tied the game at 2-2 in the 77th minute. Academy of Arts scored in the 93rd minute for the victory. Men’s Soccer The William Jessup’s men soccer continues to struggle. The Warriors fell to Menlo College, 3-1, last week. Rocklin native Kyle Dyck scored the Warriors only goal of the day. NCAA Division II Notre Dame de Namur beat the Warriors 8-0 in a non-conference match. Volleyball Warriors’ volleyball picked up their second win of the season by sweeping UC Merced. The Warriors were led by junior Hannah Baldwin (Colfax) and freshman Sara Hickenbottom with a game-high nine kills. Sophomore Zoey Gilbert recorded 18 assist.
