Warrior Set New School Records in Victory

The William Jessup University men’s soccer team set two new school records in a 5-4 comeback victory over CSU-Maritime at home, last week. After trailing 3-1 at halftime, the Warriors bounced back with four, second half goals to seal the victory. They set a new school record with 31 shots in the game, including 22 in the second half. Sophomore Mark Bondaruk set a new school record for shots in a game (eight), while scoring three goals in the win. Senior Jay Weislogel and sophomore Uriel Moreno each scored a goal. Warrior’s keeper Tim Rusher had seven saves. William Jessup will host Simpson University on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Womens Soccer The William Jessup University women’s soccer team extended their winning streak to six with two shutouts last week. The Lady Warriors improve to 10-7 overall. The Lady Warriors defeated UC Santa Cruz 2-0 in a non-league matchup at home last Friday. Senior Stephanie Long and freshman Kim Randall each scored for the Lady Warriors. The Lady Warriors defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College the next day in Santa Cruz 1-0. Freshman Cara Eskenzai scored the winning goal in the 78th minute. Senior goal keeper Lindsey Cesena recorded nine saves in the victory. William Jessup will host Simpson University, Saturday, 3 p.m. in their final match of the season. Womens Volleyball The Warriors volleyball team split two games this week against UC Merced and Simpson. Junior Hannah Baldwin led the Warriors with 12 kills as they defeated UC Merced 3-0 for the third time this season. The Warriors fell to Simpson University 3-1. Baldwin and junior Kati Murphy recorded six kills apiece. Sophomores Elaina Murphy and Zoey Gilbert each had 13 assists. William Jessup will host Pacific Union College, Thursday night, 7 p.m., before traveling to close out the season at UC Santa Cruz, Saturday. Upcoming games Men basketball travels to Vallejo to play Point Loma Nazarene, 5:30 p.m., Friday, CSU-Maritime Tournament. Women’s basketball hosts UC Merced in an exhibition game at 7:30 on Friday.
