Volunteers needed for Hot Pink Fun Run
Oct. 21 event to benefit Placer Breast Cancer Endowment
The Placer Breast Cancer Endowment is currently seeking community volunteers for its annual Hot Pink Fun Run. The event, which is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Fountains at Roseville, will benefit the Placer Breast Cancer Endowment. All event proceeds will go to endowing a Breast Cancer Chair for breast cancer research and clinical trials at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Hot Pink Fun Run planning committee, which is co-chaired by Kim Navarro of Williams + Paddon Architects + Planners, and Anne Chacón of SureWest Communications, expects the event to attract more than 1,500 registered runners this year. “The Hot Pink Fun Run’s family-friendly format and community spirit has attracted a loyal following of running enthusiasts and first-timers, as well as those who are interested in supporting a local breast cancer cause,” Navarro said. “This year, in addition to our traditional 5K run and 1 mile fun run/walk, we have added a new 10K route that we think will appeal to a new group of fitness enthusiasts.” The growing increase in participants has fueled the need for more volunteers. Some of the volunteer duties the group needs help with include pre-event planning, race check-in and registration, finish line support and timing chip removal, parking/traffic control, water station and event set-up and tear down. Individuals interested in volunteering can visit the Hot Pink Fun Run website at hotpinkfunrun.org and click on the volunteers tab or e-mail the volunteer coordinator at email@example.com.
