Volunteer, lend a hand, make a difference – here’s four ways you can help

The Lincoln Volunteer Center encourages residents to get involved by highlighting a handful of volunteer opportunities that take place this weekend and next weekend. Annual Creek Clean-Up 8 a.m. Saturday: Volunteers are to meet at McBean Park in the D St. parking lot. For more information, contact Joan Brant-Love, Volunteer Coordinator at 434-6095 or e-mail Tree Planting Project 9 a.m. Oct. 30: Meet at the Auburn Ravine Dog Park off of Joiner Parkway and Moore Road. Tree planting will take place along the Ravine. All planting equipment will be provided and a barbecue lunch will follow. Fruitvale School, Community Hall Work Day Dr. Lyndell Grey will head up the projects to be completed this Saturday at the former schoolhouse. Work will include landscape maintenance, minor repairs, painting, and general clean-up. The Hall is located at 3425 Fruitvale Road. For details call Dr. Gray at (916) 769-7959. The inaugural South Placer Soap Box Derby Friday through Sunday in Lincoln. Volunteer shifts begin Friday at 11 a.m. through sundown; Saturday, 7 a.m. through sundown; and Sunday, 7 a.m. into the afternoon.
