VFW apologizes for not notifying school of memorial gun salute

-A +A
As commander of Veterans of Foreign War Post 3010, I would like to apologize to Jeaninne Kato, her students and all of the others at the elementary school of First Street. Ms. Kato is correct both in the fact that our performances of military honors are not usually conducted on school days and in her request that schools be notified when our salutes will happen on school days. I am glad she brought this to our attention. Rest assured that we will notify the school several days in advance should a weekday military funeral take place in the future. On this particular day, we honored a Lincoln resident and World War II Army Air Corps Ace who had earned several awards for bravery. Again, please accept our apology to the staff and students. Kent Parsell, VFW Post 3010 commander, Lincoln
