Tri-City again displayed solid scoring power in the championship game of the District 11, Area 1 9-10 All Stars game by taking a 10-1 decision over host Lincoln Saturday. After battling their way through the elimination bracket Lincoln earned a chance to avenge their 3-1 loss to Tri-City July 3. The club took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and held on to it until the fourth when visitors sprang to life to take a 6-1 lead. The big hit came on Shane Connors two-run triple to bring in Joey Souto and Anthony Baglietto to cap the inning. Connors again flexed his hitting power by jacking one out in the sixth inning to give Tri-City a 9-1 lead. Robert Jones and Ryan King combined for a masterful pitching performance. Lincoln was able to get runners on base but the pitching duo would only allow one run to score. They gave up just four hits. A reserved Connors said his club was ready to take on the winner of the Area 2 championship between Grass Valley and Nevada City. The first game of the best-of-three series begins Monday, 7 p.m. on the Lincoln Little League diamond. Manager Kevin Connors said his players are prepared for the next level. ?I love these kids. They are ready,? Manager Connors said. ?We have quality pitching; we have a lot of pitchers. And everybody on this team can hit the ball.?
