The second annual Drive for Babies Charity Golf Tournament, benefiting the March of Dimes, will be held Friday, May 3, at Turkey Creek Golf Course in Lincoln.

Aimee Hill, a Sutter Roseville Medical Center respiratory therapist and event organizer, said last year’s event was so successful that the hospital decided to bring it back this year. Last year’s tournament, she said, raised $4,000 and drew 82 golfers and 110 people who attended the dinner.

“We campaign for the March of Dimes, and because golf tournaments are so successful in raising money and I love golf, I wanted to try to merge the two together,” Hill explained. “IT was a really good turnout, so I wanted to try to do it again.”

The format is a four-person scramble. There will be four hole-in-one prize holes. Hole three will be played for $10,000. Other par 3 holes played for an iPad 3, iPhone 4s and $250 iTunes gift card. There will be longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, and many more contests at the tees for prizes.

Extra mulligans will be sold at the course for $5 each or three for $10. Or, purchase the Mulligan Package for $25, which includes two mulligans, two drink tickets and entry into all four hold-in-one competitions.

Cost for the tournament is $125, which includes cart, range balls, greens fee, lunch and dinner. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $40 for non-golfers until April 25. Dinner tickets will not be sold at the door. This year’s theme is “Fiesta on the Fairways,” so a Mexican-themed dinner will be served. There will also be a silent auction with prizes including golf packages, hotel stays, coffee, wine and more.

All net proceeds will support March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help moms have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies.

“I also work in the NICU,” Hill said, “so just seeing the work that they do for the babies – all babies born healthy, I thought, was a really worthwhile cause.”

The last day to register for the tournament is April 15. Contact Hill at (916) 276-1065 or, or Patricia Lamb at (916) 781-1333 or
