Just after 10 p.m. on Feb. 11, Roseville officers spotted a man whom they knew had an outstanding arrest warrant. Police said the suspect, Joshua Rankin, 28, of Roseville attempted to flee through a parking lot on Creekside Ridge Drive. Officers caught Rankin and took him into custody. According to authorities, the car Rankin had been driving was reported stolen from Auburn on Feb. 2. Rankin had allegedly fitted the vehicle with illegal license plates in the front and back — both of which had been stolen from other cars in Roseville and Lincoln. Rankin was charged with evading police, possession of heroin, possessing stolen property and a Placer County warrant for auto theft. His bail was set at $105,000.
