What a night! Last Saturday’s Night for the Library fundraiser, sponsored by Friends of the Lincoln Public Library and catered by Diana Burke’s Simple Pleasures, was a big hit. Lincoln’s Mayor, Spencer Short, was there and Councilmen Paul Joiner, Stan Nader and Tom Cosgrove were on hand, along with City Manager Jim Estep. We spotted many of the library staff in attendance. Our volunteer Master of Ceremonies, Paul Krow, kept the crowd happy and laughing and volunteer Auctioneer Dar Gallaway made the auction fun and lively. Wild Duc’s live music was fabulous. And Friends’ President Karen Jarrell reminded us of the good work that Friends and the Lincoln Public Library are doing and that attendees are supporting by coming to the dinner. More donations came in that we now have the chance to thank: two lunches at Auburn’s Wings Grill & Espresso Bar; gourmet pistachios from Fiddyment Farms, a pretty plant from Lincoln Florist, beauty treatments at Attitudes Salon and a pedicure from Jennifer Ngo. Kudos to WAVE Broadband for a Roku box, Debbie of the Book Cellar for decorative fabric, to Sarah Prince for her donation of party favor gifts (succulent plants and bookmarks) and to the Civil Air Patrol for parking help. We also thank NorCal Beverage for beer and Rancho Robles for wine and Jane Tahti for donating wine and the Bokisch Wine Club membership. And hats off to PlacerArts for the use of credit card machines. We also thank artist Dick Ketelle for his handcrafted art vase, Amazing Gracie, Visions Salon & Spa, Lincoln Area Archives Museum, Costco, Tammy McDonald and the Grand Sierra Resort. Finally, a big shout out to Mike and Donna Kimbrough for donating seven gorgeous wine and food baskets. A big thank you goes to Trisha Pickerel of A Perfect Image by Trisha in Loomis for creating our poster and being our event photographer. Applause to SureWest Communications, Bob and Sally Sanguinet, Carolyn Sanfilippo, Vicki Atwood, Beth and Bill Barnes, Joe and Vi Kuka, Noreen Skillman and Dolores Martinez — all made nice donations to our dinner. Thanks, once again, to The Lincoln News Messenger, our co-sponsor, and to executive level sponsors Home Depot, Mercer Tyson, of Carolan Properties/ Keller Williams Realty, Bikram Yoga of Lincoln and to Old Town Pizza, who supplied pizzas to our volunteers. And finally, thanks to Lincoln: for the many auction items donated by Lincoln businesses and the residents who turned out to support us. On the Calendar Sunday: Open Mic from 3-5 p.m. Free. Features George Keithley from Chico, who has won a Book of the Month Club selection for his epic poem, “The Donner Party,” in the Willow Room of the Lincoln Public Library at Twelve Bridges. March 17: Antique/Vintage Book Sale from 1-4 p.m. Collectible car books are highlighted, plus vintage, art and coffee table books. Held in the Rotunda of the library.
