State, city need to communicate

Re “The results are in: sustainability committee recommendations” (Feb. 23 Lincoln News Messenger, page A6): I believe that the public-spirited fiscal sustainability committee did a great job as far as they were able. I don’t fault the city fathers. Much of the financial shortfall cannot be laid at their feet. I have talked with them and know their anxiety which I share. But the problems go beyond mere efficiency and honesty in governance. Are there any state financial solutions available to help Lincoln out? For effective local government operation, we need good communication between the city fathers and our representative in the State Assembly.
