Spring time means let’s make a deal at many Lake Tahoe resorts

Although snow totals are far from record-setting, Lake Tahoe ski resorts have benefitted from some timely storms this season that have resulted in plenty of good days to hit the slopes.


Thanks to those well-timed storms in late February and early March, many Tahoe resorts are reporting a solid snowpack and will remain open through the middle of April and beyond.


The arrival of spring skiing not only means warm weather, it also is a time of enticing deals, like buying a season pass for next season.


Below is a sampling of bargains being offered by Tahoe resorts:


Sierra-at-Tahoe: The resort has a three-day lift package for young adults and children that costs $49 per day. A lift-and-lunch deal is also offered Monday through Friday and is available online only. For $74, get a lift ticket and $15 food credit.

Sugar Bowl: Ages 13-69 can receive a free two-hour group lesson of any level and a standard gear rental with the purchase of a lift ticket. The lesson price is $56 (a savings of $34) for ages 4-12 in the kids program.

Heavenly: The popular south shore resort is offering a lodging and lift package available midweek that is tough to beat. Stay two nights and ski two days for the price of one, starting at $59 per person. The deal begins March 30 and goes until April 23.

Mt. Rose: Spring passes are going for $433 and are valid the rest of this season as well as all of next year. The unrestricted pass has no void dates or blackout periods.

Northstar-at-Tahoe: College students with a valid ID can purchase $59 discount lift tickets. The dates are March 22-26, March 29-April 2 and April 5-9. Kids lift tickets are valid any two out of three consecutive days, which means kids ski or ride for just $16 per day.

Boreal: From March 26 through April 4, the resort will run a season-pass sale that allows people to purchase next year’s season pass for up to 40 percent off.

Squaw: For $130 per person, per night, two people can stay in the Village at Squaw for four nights and pay for only three. The deal includes four days of unlimited skiing.

Kirkwood: Lift tickets cost $49 for anyone who shows up with with a season passholder through the end of the season. Lifts tickets are $39 for anyone with a military ID.

Alpine Meadows: Spring season tickets are available for $99 and valid from April 4 until the projected closing on May 16. To purchase, one must be an Alpine Club member (cost is $15) or a passholder from another ski area.
