Glen Edwards Middle School (G.E.M.S.) students have kicked off 2010 by showing they care. They’ve taken great effort to help out the people of Haiti through the “Help for Haiti” organization. The Jan. 12 earthquake devastated the country and killed up to 100,000 people and there are still bodies to be found. These people need our help. G.E.M.S has been collecting pennies and other donations. So far, we have collected more than $1,000, of which more than $800 came from the classes of teacher Chris Landon. With the generosity of our students, we will be able to help those less fortunate because every penny is worth a million. Sara Powell and Kay Mercier are Glen Edwards Middle School eighth-graders.
