The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has recently acquired an invaluable tool made possible by a grant from the Thunder Valley Casino, according to a press release from Sheriff Edward N. Bonner.

According to Lt. Darrell Steinhauer, commander of the Placer County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team (SET), the small, high-tech, remote camera was purchased with the grant and will be used to assist SET members in hazardous situations.
The grant program is funded by Thunder Valley Casino, the Indian gaming special distribution fund, and is administered by the local community benefit committee.
The compact, remote-controlled camera unit will assist SET members in their prevailing goal of ensuring the safety of all concerned in a high-risk situation.
“In these tight budget times we would not have been able to acquire this public safety equipment without the funding from this grant,” Steinhauer said. “Thunder Valley’s continued commitment to local law enforcement, its members and the public is greatly appreciated.”
