ROSEVILLE (AP) ? Roseville police have arrested a registered sex offender accused of operating an ice cream truck near a junior high school. Sixty-three-year-old John Alderson was taken into custody Wednesday while driving the truck near Olympus Junior High School. State law prohibits registered sex offenders from working or volunteering in a job that involves significant contact with children under 16. Alderson has a prior conviction on a misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting children. Authorities say Alderson, who had been operating the truck for about three weeks, had not applied for a permit with the police department to operate the business. Police say they've received no reports of inappropriate behavior by Alderson with his customers.
