Seniors First will participate in the national 2010 March For Meals, a national campaign initiated and sponsored by Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Senior-nutrition programs across the United States promote March For Meals through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives. Locally, Seniors First participated Wednesday in the national Mayors for Meals day, where Lincoln, Roseville and Auburn mayors delivered Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors. Seniors First will begin an “Adopt A Senior” program to help feed a senior. Meals On Wheels is a donation-based program. Pledges can be made to feed a senior on a daily basis, monthly or yearly. To take the pledge or “adopt a senior” for the Meals on Wheels, go online to mowaa.org or call Brenda Cathey at Seniors First, (530) 889-9500, extension 206.
