Raymond Garcia made a bet with the Lincoln Little League 9-and 10-year-old All-Stars before Wednesday night’s Section 11 championship game. The wager had to do with bragging rights. Garcia played for the city’s Major stars in 1980, the last Lincoln team to reach the section level. If Lincoln could beat Land Park on Wednesday, he would come out and say the current squad is the best ever. The players staked a claim to that fame by rolling to a 19-4 victory at Larry Costa Field. Lincoln advances to the Northern California Division II tournament and will play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Chico. Lincoln took control in the first inning when Charles Middleton Jr. and Gregory Pallas hit RBI doubles. Pallas scored on Greden McFarlin’s single to give Lincoln a 3-0 lead. Middleton made it 5-0 in the second with a two-run double. That proved to be enough offense for Lincoln, especially when Preston Eklund pitched three shutout innings after relieving Middleton. Lincoln’s hit parade was led by Middleton, who was 5-for-5 with three doubles and five RBI. Eklund and Chad Bagwell each had four hits, and Cade Borgerson added three. Ryan Graham had two hits and scored four runs.
