Thirteen points separated Lincoln High School’s football team from Yuba City this season. Those points accounted for a regular-season loss for the Zebras and an early exit from the playoffs. David Schroeder’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Max Flores with 5:55 to play Friday night was the difference as Yuba City beat Lincoln 35-28 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs. The game in Yuba City was a rematch of the Sept. 10 contest that Yuba City won 41-35 in Lincoln. The 10th-seeded Zebras (6-5) led 28-21 with 8:42 left after a 3-yard touchdown run by Oscar Fernandez. Lincoln had four rushing touchdowns, including two by Isaac Allen before he went out. Allen left the game with the shoulder injury in the third quarter and did not return. He was injured during a drive that quarterback Christian Perkins capped with a 1-yard scoring run to put the Zebras ahead 21-14. The Honkers (8-3) tied it on Schroeder’s first touchdown pass to Flores, also a 20-yarder, with 45 seconds left in the first half. Yuba City tied the score after Fernandez’s run on a 6-yard scoring dash by Taylor Rowe, his third touchdown of the night. Neither team could stop the other. There were only three punts in the game. Lincoln punted once.
