School district thankful of community

-A +A
There are times in life when one becomes acutely aware of and grateful for the generosity and compassion of one’s local community. The past week has been such a week for Western Placer Unified School District. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the employees of Thunder Valley Resort and Casino who so generously held a paper drive on behalf of our school district and donated over $11,000 of copy paper and supplies to our schools and to our students. In the current budget challenges that we are facing, this was an unexpected and extremely well-received gift. A special thanks to Lisa Grewohl, CJ Graham, Duane Ryzner, Adrian Woods, Erika Carlton, and Jeremy Smith. Western Placer Unified School District is also extremely appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from our local community in response to the fire at Glen Edwards Middle School last weekend. Thank you to our incredible Lincoln Fire Department who quickly put out the blaze, keeping it contained and limiting the damage; thank you to our parents, students, staff, neighbors, and our greater community for the supplies, monetary gifts, phone calls and letters of support you offered as we quickly mobilized to open school with limited disruption on Monday morning. We are deeply committed to the education and well-being of our students, and our community has helped us to rally toward that end. We are truly fortunate and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful place. Mary Boyle, deputy superintendent educational services, and Scott Leaman, Superintendent
