Roseville man struck by vehicle sustains fatal injuries
A pedestrian from Roseville was killed in Lincoln Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle on Industrial Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 10:12 p.m., 20-year-old Kaitlin Bailey, of Citrus Heights, was driving a blue Honda Civic southbound on Industrial at about 55 mph, the report said. Candido Perez, 33, of Roseville, for reasons still under investigation, was walking in the southbound lane of Industrial, with his back to traffic, the report said.
As Bailey approached Perez’s location, she swerved in an attempt to avoid him, according to the report but struck Perez, causing fatal injuries. Perez was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Cal Fire paramedic.
Bailey did not sustain any injuries and was determined to not be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, the report said. The sobriety of Perez will be determined through a toxicology report from the Placer County Coroner’s Office.
