Roseville firefighters quell grass fire near Sierra View Country Club
Firefighters from the Roseville Fire Department rushed to stifle a half-acre grass fire under active power lines near Shasta Street and Diamond Oaks Road at 4:18 p.m. Thursday.
The fire briefly threatened homes in the area neighboring the Sierra View Country Club, but firefighters stopped the blaze before any structures saw serious danger.
Roseville firefighters dispatched from the fire house on Oak Ave. arrived on the scene within minutes of the call going out. Fire investigators said the blaze was of unknown origin.
"The fire was under control within minutes," Roseville Fire Battalion Chief Chris Baker said. "The flames were moving through cut grass, which made it easier.
"That's what saves neighborhoods."
Baker added that the Roseville Fire Department is currently investigating a fire that broke earlier this afternoon in a wooded creek area near Rocky Ridge Road under suspicious circumstances.
