Rising costs forces Seniors First to raise prices

-A +A
Due to the rising gas and food costs, Seniors First will need to raise its suggested donation for meals from $2.50 to $3 per meal. Seniors First provides critical services designed to keep seniors independent. Skyrocketing gas and food prices are having a drastic impact on the Senior Nutrition Program and the frail, vulnerable homebound seniors served throughout Placer County. Seniors First currently provides a hot noon meal five days a week to 250 homebound seniors on 22 delivery routes throughout Placer County; all meals are delivered by volunteer drivers. Seniors First also offers a hot noon meal at nine senior cafes located throughout Placer County, Monday through Friday. Seniors First has not had to ask for an increase in suggested donations for more than five years. For more information regarding the café sites or Meals on Wheels, call Cindy Sasser at (800) 778-9222, ext. 208 or Brenda Cathey at ext. 206.
