The kickoff meeting for the Lincoln 2008 Relay For Life was held on Feb. 4 at Lincoln High School. There was a great turnout with more than 50 people in attendance. Goals for this year's event were presented with significant growth expectations for growing the number of survivors involved; expanding the number of teams and exceeding last years money's raised. A goal was set to have 17 teams signed up by Feb. 17, but according to Mandy Walker, Relay co-chair, that number has been reached already. To get involved with this year's Relay For Life, go online at or call Mandy Walker or Christina Breiner at 645-5298. Relay For Life is an overnight celebration of life dedicated to cancer survivors and those who have lost their battle against the disease. The 2008 Relay For Life will take place May 17-18 and will be on the Lincoln High School football field. Relay For Life is a major source of funds for the American Cancer Society, a community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering through research, education, advocacy and patient service.
