Rays’ sixth-inning rally falls short in Rangers’ win

Texans hold onto third place

The Rangers held off a Rays’ rally in the sixth inning to claim a 5-3 victory Tuesday and remain in third place in the Lincoln Little League Majors Standings one game behind the Phillies.

The Texans’ Alex Nunez drove in two runs and Aiden Isola was 2-3 at the plate with a run batted in to help the Rangers’ get by the Rays. Also getting hits were Evan Risucci (double) and Robert Griffin.

Rusucci also threw for 5 1/3 innings to help keep the Devil Fish in check. The hurler recorded 14 strikeouts and only one base on balls. Isola came on in the sixth to close the game.

Gavin Young was 2-3 and got hitting support from teammates Nolan Chapple, Max Pettey and Ben Buhler to lead the Rays. Pettey had two RBI.

Young pitched 4 1/3 innings for the Floridians and Petty closed the game. Young had eight Ks and Pettey three.
